At the May 2025 elections, 12 Liberal Democrats were elected to Kent County Council, the official opposition to Reform UK. This is the Liberal Democrats' largest Kent County Council group for over 20 years.

Despite opposition from the Lib Dems, Greens, Labour and most remaining Conservatives, the Reform administration of Kent County Council voted to rescind its declaration of a climate emergency saying they are "sceptical of anthropogenic climate change".
Next Thursday (18 September), Reform councillors will vote on a motion to scrap Kent's Climate Emergency declaration. This would be a huge step backwards for our county.
Dynamic contracts, the pandemic, demographic and public health pressures meant it grew by 17% per year over the last 8 years. Reform now forecasts growth of 3%. This despite a projected 20% increase in over 65’s in Kent in the same timeframe.
The Liberal Democrats at KCC have put a motion to Full Council on 10th July calling for improvements to the Blue Badge scheme, amongst other things to better support those with cancer or other life-altering conditions.
Mike Sole highlighted the County Council's strategy’s consistent support for flexible working arrangements, remarking: “This strategy clearly shows that supporting staff is not only the right thing to do—it’s good for business.”
