Experience Counts at Kent County Council

The Liberal Democrat group (12 of us) at Kent County Council have more experience than all the other 4 groups added together, and then some.
Veteran Lib Dem Councillor Trudy Dean who is entering her 40th year on Kent County Council alone has served longer on Kent County Council than every single Reform UK, Conservative and Labour Councillor, combined.
Of the Councillors elected on 1st May 2025, the Liberal Democrats have 60 years combined service at Kent County Council. The Conservatives have 16 year between them, Reform UK 12.5 (all when serving as Councillors from other parties), Green 12 and Labour 4 years.
Tim Prater, the newly elected Councillor for Cheriton, Sandgate and Hythe East commented:
“I previously served 4 years on Kent County Council for Folkestone West starting in 2009, so know my way around the Council a bit - its amazing how little has changed in many ways!
“Outside the Lib Dem group there are a lot of very inexperienced Councillors who are going to face a very steep learning curve. It's critical they do learn fast to ensure they deliver for Kent residents. The Lib Dems will use our experience to hold them to account.”
