Ruvi Ziegler

As an internationalist at heart and as a human rights advocate, Ruvi is passionate about protecting our place in the EU, defending the rights of EU27 citizens, and advancing civil liberties of individuals across Europe. His strong advocacy of the European project and UK membership thereof is manifested in his civil society engagement: Ruvi is Chair of New Europeans, an award-winning pan-European organisation established in 2012 to champion the rights of mobile EU citizens; and the inaugural Chair of the Oxford European Association, established by Oxford city council in July 2016 to send an inclusive, welcoming message to the many Oxford residents born elsewhere in the EU.

In his academic capacity, Ruvi is an Associate Professor in International Refugee Law, an Associate Academic Fellow of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, Research Associate of the Refuge Studies Centre, University of Oxford, Co-convenor of the Migration and Asylum Section of the Society of Legal Scholars and Senior Research Associate of the Refugee Law Initiative (Institute for Advance Legal Study, University of London).

Ruvi is Council member of the Liberal Democrats for Seekers of Sanctuary, responsible for co-drafting the Liberal Democrats' progressive and compassionate asylum policy.
