Norman, who has been MP for Lewes since 1997, is determined to improve safety, ease traffic flow and help the environment. His action plan includes proposals:
Make the traffic likes at Exceat Bridge 'smart' and traffic-activated
- Create a new pedestrian crossing along the Eastbourne Road in Seaford
- Reinstate the slip road at the turning to Bishopstone
- Put traffic lights at the junction at Hill Rise and Marine Parade
- Change the ring road in Newhaven, helping reconnect the town centre to the south and give relief to houses along the southern section
- Create a proper cycle track west of Newhaven towards Peacehaven
- Stop the Conservative-run county council from introducing cuts to local bus services
Commenting on these proposals, Norman has said:
"All these points along the road regularly generate emails and letters to me from constituents. What I am proposing is a package that will improve the road for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. I am now asking for the county council, who are responsible for the road, to consult on these proposals with a view to taking action over the next 12 months."
