At the General Election in Tunbridge Wells on 7th June 2001, 40201 votes were cast (approximately 62% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Archie Norman (Conservative): 19643 votes.

Keith Brown (Liberal Democrat): 9913 votes.

Ian Carvell (Labour): 9332 votes.

Victor Webb (UK Independence Party): 1313 votes.
