At the General Election in Tonbridge & Malling on 5th May 2005, 46063 votes were cast (approximately 67% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Sir John Stanley (Conservative): 24357 votes (+3.5%).

Victoria Hayman (Labour): 11005 votes (-6%).

John Barstow (Liberal Democrat): 8980 votes (+1.6%).

David Waller (UK Independence Party): 1721 votes (+0.9%).
