At the General Election in Medway on 5th May 2005, 41093 votes were cast (approximately 61% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Robert Marshall-Andrews (Labour): 17333 votes (-6.8%).

41.7%

Mark Reckless (Conservative): 17120 votes (+2.5%).

12.5%

Geoffrey Juby (Liberal Democrat): 5152 votes (+3.2%).

3.6%

Bob Oakley (UK Independence Party): 1488 votes (+1.1%).
